Arnold Schwarzenegger smoking a cigar in an Austrian airport
Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger was fined twice for smoking cigars at two airports on a recent visit to his Austrian homeland, the Krone Zeitung newspaper reported Tuesday.
The Austrian-born actor-turned-politician received the €200 ($280) fines for lighting up at airports in Salzburg and Graz.
Schwarzenegger has not yet paid the penalties and may avoid them completely because Austria and the US do not have a cooperation agreement for minor offenses.
But Austrian authorities are not giving up. They have sent fine notices to the US embassy in Vienna in the hope that the “Terminator” star will pay.
