In an attempt to create a healthier workplace for its staff, Virginia Tire & Auto decided to prohibit smoking at its twelwe northern Virginia locations. The new policy comes into action on November 19.
The automative provider told that their initiative is dedicated to Great American Smokeout that would take place on November 19 and is organized by the American Cancer Society. In order to celebrate this anti-smoking event, 22 Virginia Tire workers said they will quit smoking.
Julie Holmes, president at Virginia Tire & Auto told that the company is happy to take part in the Great American Smokeout and they would provide necessary support to workers who promise to quit smoking. The company was founded almost 40 years ago and since then it became well-known for its excellent service. Making the business smoke-free would help to create a healthier environment for both workers and clients.
According to Virginia Tire & Auto Tobacco Free Campus Plan, starting from Novemner 19 all types of tobacco products (cigarettes, cigars, pipes) and electronic smoking devices would be prohibited on the property owned and managed by the company and this action will contribute to providing a comfortable and healthy environment for customers and associates.
Virginia Tire would encourage its workers who want to quit by offering a credit of $1,800 per year to them. Besides this, the company is going to stop sale of cigarettes on its gas stations.
