Casino and large nightclubs have been given until November 30 to pay for licenses that will allow patrons to smoke on their premises, otherwise they will have to join smaller establishments and ban customers from lighting up.

Casinos and venues with live music that are over 300 square meters can buy a permit to convert up to half of the establishment into a smoking area.

The government expects to raise 40 million euros from the measure this year.

The annual licenses will cost 200 euros per square meter.
