E-cigarette company blu Cigs announced it has teamed up with Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful for the first-ever Great American Butt Clean event taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, October 22.

Every year, over 4.5 trillion cigarette butts litter millions of parks, sidewalks, public streets, neighborhoods and more, degrading the appearance of thousands of public places and polluting the environment.
“Keeping a city clean is not something that any single organization can successfully do alone – thus our community and corporate partnerships are critical to our cause. So when blu approached us about partnering for this event, we were happy to get on board,” said Jake Wilson, Executive Director of Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful, an affiliate of the national Keep America Beautiful, Inc. “We are happy to support and donate supplies for an event that encourages our residents to demonstrate their hands-on stewardship in cleaning up Charlotte’s streets.”
From 11 AM-1 PM on Saturday, blu Cigs, along with volunteers from Mecklenburg County, will collect and dispose of thousands of cigarette butts in an effort to clean up the uptown area of Charlotte.

All supplies will be furnished by Keep Mecklenburg Beautiful and immediately following the clean-up, volunteers are invited to an after-party sponsored by Buckhead Saloon from 1-4 PM.
